Coming to theatres this fall is Northmen: northmenposterA viking saga, a Swiss-German action-adventure feature about Vikings lost in Scotland.

The upcoming movie, directed by Swiss director Claudio Fäh (Sniper: Reloaded, Hollow Man 2), will have its world premiere at the Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland on September 27th, before it opens theatrically in Germany and Switzerland on October 23rd. The English-language film, which was shot for eight weeks primarily in South Africa, was written by Matthias Bauer and Bastian Zach.

A band of Vikings are stranded behind enemy lines on the coast of Alba (Scotland) as their longboat goes down in a dreadful storm. Their only chance of survival is to find a path to the Viking settlement, Danelag, traversing an unfamiliar and hostile land they have never known. The journey becomes a race for their lives when the King of Alba sends his most feared mercenaries after them. But when the Vikings meet a kind Christian Monk who preaches with his sword, the hunters become the hunted as the Vikings set deadly traps, mercilessly decimating their pursuers one by one, culminating in a final and deadly encounter.

Death metal singer Johan Hegg of the Swedish band Amon Amarth also joined the cast of Northmen, where he plays the Viking warrior Valli. -The mythology behind our Viking heritage is engrained in everything we do and it is awesome to have the opportunity to be part of Northmen. This is going to be one epic adventure, Johan Hegg said. Ralph Dietrich of Ascot Elite Entertainment Group added: -It is an honor to have metal icon Johan Hegg set sail with us and we could not be more excited. Such a fitting addition, Johan’s music, as the lead singer of Amon Amarth, is synonymous with the Viking experience that we are bringing to life in Northmen: A Viking Saga.
